“UNASHAMEDLY SILLY!” (Dusted Off)
BAR TRASH celebrates our 3rd year and 10th sensational season with WE ARE TRASH!, a fan-made mixtape of cult and chaotic cinema (May to Aug 2025).
One of the most common audience requests for future seasons of BAR TRASH was ‘more world cinema’. This gave Token Homo a great excuse to explore screen cultures of other nations with an un-proud history of exploitation cinema. Countries we are visiting this season include: Turkey (THE SWORD AND THE CLAW); Italy (DON’T TORTURE A DUCKLING); Japan (LONE WOLF AND CUB); and now India (we’ve already been to Mexico and hope to visit the Philippines soon!).
Ranjit S. Ruprai is creator of cult film night SUPAKINO and co-owner of new boutique blu-ray distributor, The Cloud Door, specialising in South Asian cinema. Token Homo started screening films with Ranjit back in 2019, so who better to introduce our first ever Bollywood title? BHOOT BUNGLA (1965) is a bit like HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959) with extra songs, dancing, and slapstick. Celebrate its 60th anniversary with 2 intervals, free chai and samosas.
Polite notice: We are showing BHOOT BUNGLA with subtitles from the best available digital source. Our screening will include 2 intervals and an earlier start time than usual.
Programme supported by Film Hub London, managed by Film London. Proud to be a partner of the BFI Film Audience Network, funded by the National Lottery. www.filmlondon.org.uk/film-hub-london
