Replikka is a Brazilian short film directed by Heloísa Passos and Piratá Waurá, exploring the
intersection of Indigenous wisdom and technology through a spiritual and meditative lens,
focusing on the resilience of the Wauja people of the Upper Xingu.
My Foreign Land is a collaborative documentary film directed by Coletivo Lakapoy, Louise
Botkay, and João Moreira Salles. It follows the Suruí, an indigenous people in western Brazil,
during the tense final month leading up to the pivotal 2022 Brazilian presidential elections. It
tracks tribal leader Almir Suruí campaigning locally in Rondônia while his daughter, young
activist Txai Suruí, travels abroad to advocate for rainforest protection against logging and
mining.
This screening is curated by Meliza George as part of ‘Whose Land? Whose Lens?’ a season of
