The film stars Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones, Strike Back) and George Blagden (Vikings, Versailles) with cameos from Dario Argento (the master director of horror films) and Franco Nero (the Italian screen legend) in a high-stakes, immersive experience where the audience plays a pivotal role in determining the protagonist’s fate.

The Run is set on a remote running trail in the stunning Lake Garda region of Northern Italy, where a famous fitness influencer’s morning run becomes a race for survival when she is hunted by seemingly motiveless killers. The audience must choose her next move by majority vote using glowsticks. Each decision shaping the story’s outcome in real time.

The Run is thrilling film festival audiences at Raindance London, Motelx Lisbon, Dinard Brittany and Imagine Amsterdam before taking up residence at the Genesis which is in Jack the Ripper’s backyard of Whitechapel!!

This is the third collaboration between Paul Raschid and Genesis Cinema after The Gallery in 2023 and Hello Stranger in April 2025.

This special LMFF event marks ten years of migrant cinema by looking not only at what has been represented, but at what can now be imagined. Opening with a short reflection on how migrant cinema has shifted over the last decade, the programme brings together four films that move beyond crisis narratives into speculative, dream-like and ancestral registers. Through fantasy, parable, transcendence and ritual, these works imagine other ways of being, belonging and moving through the world. The screening is followed by a panel conversation reflecting on how migrant filmmaking has evolved, what border-abolitionist and decolonial futures might look like on screen, and how cinema can help reimagine migration beyond the limits of the nation-state.

Twenty years later, the demon reawakens to take control, leading to a gory nightmare of lust, terror and death!

A maxed-out mix of 1980s supernatural horror and slasher excess, Michael Dugan’s MAUSOLEUM is a stylish, sleazy, and outrageously gory production, featuring a series of imaginative creature designs and death scenes orchestrated by FX wizard John Carl Buechler, a BAR TRASH favourite from GHOULIES (1984), TERRORVISION (1986), ZONE TROOPERS (1985), and DOLLS (1986).

In the VHS-burning mayhem of the ‘Video Nasties’ moral panic, this "schlocky and silly” (Blockbuster Video Guide) but thoroughly entertaining horror yarn was seized and confiscated in the UK under Section 3 of the Obscene Publications Act 1959. We are showing the fully uncut 97 minute version which still had a ‘misleading category symbol’ removed by the BBFC in 2023, but that doesn’t affect the horrors that can be found lurking in the MAUSOLEUM!

Art Forward x Dunya Films present: FRAGMENTS FROM HOME

“Fragments of Home” unites two intimate Palestinian films that explore the meaning of home, memory and motherhood amid displacement and conflict. Through the eyes of mothers and children, we see how memory can be both refuge and burden, how the camera becomes a vessel for grief and for hope. A Palestinian mother-to-be in the Netherlands grapples with emotional and physical challenges during pregnancy. Through personal reflections,she confronts pain, uncertainty, fear of bodily changes, and an identity crisis, all while challenging societal norms around motherhood. Torn between her personal struggles and the devastation in Gaza, she feels guilt and shame, questioning her right to feel pain and wrestling with her privilege while others endure unimaginable suffering.

After accidentally killing the love of his life Elizabeth Shelley (Patty Mullen), Jeffrey Franken (James Lorinz) decides to reanimate her with the help of a drug named Supercrack and the body parts of a dozen Manhattan sex workers. FRANKENHOOKER is a bad taste triumph that revels in sublime camp, gloopy gore, and neon-soaked dreamscapes with Patty Mullen iconic as the title character (“Wanna date?”).

On 1st November 2024, THE CURE's widely acclaimed Grammy-nominated album 'SONGS OF A LOST WORLD' was released. The night of the album's unveiling, The Cure performed the record in full for the first and only time at London’s Troxy in front of 3,000 fans. Far-right and nationalist politics are on the rise. Immigrants and minorities are being scapegoated like they were in the 1930s.
Tower Hamlets has a rich tradition of opposing racism and intolerance, from the Battle of Cable Street in 1936, to more recent community opposition to far-right extremism.
This season presents different cinematic representations of how bigotry can play out in society.

Sam, a young film student, discovers a USB detailing the life and career of forgotten Italian horror director Saturnino Barresi. As she begins to investigate his mysterious disappearance, Sam finds herself pulled into a violent conspiracy eerily similar to those of the films she adores.

Followed by a Q&A with director, Victoria Mapplebeck, Sally Kum (Associate Director, Nursing and Health Information, Breast Cancer Now) and Caroline Leek (Director, Fruit Fly Collective) hosted by Saskia Baron (documentary filmmaker and journalist). At the age of 38, Victoria Mapplebeck found herself single, pregnant and broke. Unable to combine motherhood with freelance directing, she was forced to abandon her career in TV, instead turning the camera on herself and her son, Jim. Filmed over 20 years, Victoria has recorded hundreds of hours of footage, capturing each twist and turn in Jim’s life, from the thumbs-up he gave her during her first pregnancy scan to his first day at college. MOTHERBOARD is a unique self-portrait charting the real-life comedy and roller coaster of solo parenting. Victoria captures a life where both she and Jim survive her breast cancer diagnosis, two generations of absent fathers and Jim’s rollercoaster teen years with a gallows sense of humour and an irrepressible ability to turn lemons into lemonade. The film navigates the trials and traumas of unromanticized parenting, where chaos rules. We’re privy to the monumental bust ups when tempers fray and doors slam, as well as the pair’s closeness and camaraderie as Jim turns into a fiercely opinionated and funny young adult who suddenly towers over his mum. Our ‘end-of-season’ films are always meant to be a lot of stupid fun, and no film nails that brief more than the awkward cross-species coupling of HOWARD THE DUCK (1986). From executive producer George Lucas (STAR WARS), and the pages of Marvel comics, HOWARD THE DUCK (released somewhat bashfully in the UK as ‘Howard… A New Breed Of Hero’) is a comedy adventure spectacular about a fast-talking, cigar-chomping, beer-loving duck from a parallel universe who crashes to Earth and somehow winds up in Cleveland.

It’s hard to imagine it now, but HOWARD THE DUCK was the first official big-screen adaptation of a Marvel comic book since the CAPTAIN AMERICA film serials of the 1940s. A major critical and commercial failure (losing more than half of its production budget), the film is often cited as one of the worst films ever made and was nominated for seven Razzie Awards at the Golden Raspberry Awards (winning four!). Needless to say, HOWARD THE DUCK is a stupid amount of fun.
