Cult film night BAR TRASH continues our 13th sensational season — SCREAM FOR YOUR LIVES! — with our latest recreation of one of The King of Horror’s theatrical gimmicks, William Castle’s MR. SARDONICUS (1961) complete with its original Punishment Poll!

Gothic chiller MR SARDONICUS was one of William Castle’s faves, a story of a man whose face becomes frozen in a horrifying grin after robbing his father’s grave to obtain a winning lottery ticket. Castle claimed in his autobiography ‘Step Right Up! I'm Gonna Scare the Pants Off America’ that the studio regarded the original ending as too grim and wanted him to reshoot it, proposing a ‘more merciful’ alternative ending. This inspired him to suggest polling the audience at each show to choose their preferred ending: MERCY or NO MERCY.

Just like in 1961, every patron will receive a FREE ‘thumbs up/thumbs down’ polling card, re-printed exclusively for this limited engagement at Genesis Cinema. On the first Thursday of the month, every month, the Genesis Poetry Slam is an electric night of spoken word performances. There will be laughter, there might be tears, there will definitely be rhymes and rhythms.

Whether you’re here to perform or simply to listen, you’ll be part of one of the friendliest, most supportive slam communities around. We don’t have that reputation for nothing.

The Genesis Poetry Slam has been running for over 15 years, and is London’s only three-round poetry slam. Up to 12 poets compete in a night of competitive poetry, to see who makes it to the final round and can claim the title of slam champion for the month.

On the night:
If pre sign-up slots are full, we may release a limited number of on-the-night slots, again first come, first served.

If you have a pre sign-up slot, please arrive by 7.00pm to keep it. Any unclaimed slots will be offered to poets on the reserve list. To keep things fair, if the slam has started and you haven’t checked in, you won’t be able to perform.

Three men drive into the desert at night to wrestle with an unspeakable evil.

A Hand to Hold
Moira, an elderly Irish woman, finds herself literally attached to her deceased husband Patrick. When his hand refuses to let go after death, it leads to increasingly grotesque events. Everyone in the couple’s orbit, from their daughter to the local doctor, a farmer, a priest, and a Satanist, all try to intervene with horrific consequences. 'A Hand to Hold' blends horror with pitch-black Irish comedy, exploring themes of grief and toxic relationships.

Beauty Sleep
Beauty Sleep is a retro futuristic short film about beauty, identity, and the dangerous pursuit of perfection.
In the Beauty Sleep world, cosmetic enhancement is more extreme than our own. New boobs, butts and faces can be purchased, sewn on and bedazzled to your choosing.
And the latest trend? A living embalnment, where teenage girls, for their Sweet 16, emerge from a sparkling coffin instead of a giant cake.
But when an eccentric mortician, trapped under the patriarchal thumb of her controlling boss, accidentally kills a client, she sees a twisted chance to escape. As the clock ticks, she plots her way out by stealing “the face” from the client, but not before giving the dead girl the most bizarrely beautiful makeover of her afterlife. Beauty Sleep is a dark, satirical dive into perfection, creativity, and control.

God Forbid
What begins as a quiet reunion between mother and daughter slowly unravels into a reckoning no prayer could soften.

I Beg Your Pardon
A man commits a terrible crime and the consequences are not what you’d expect.

Lupus
In the middle of the night, a boy is startled by the sound of breaking glass and the presence of a creature in his home. With a lamp in hand, he ventures into the hallway to discover what lurks in the darkness.

Nightfall
On a stormy night a guilt-ridden teen visits a grieving mother, looking for some kind of connection. As buried grief resurfaces he's drawn into a psychological reckoning that blurs reality - a final act of shocking vengeance completes the cycle.

Rough Cut
A late night video editor finds herself terrorised by a malevolent presence hiding within the footage she is cutting together.

Scratch
After hearing strange noises in the attic, Damon makes a chilling discovery that spirals into a waking nightmare. As his fixation on the attic grows, his flatmate Annie watches in fear as his mind—and their friendship—begins to break.

Spanked by a Ghost
Alone in her home, a woman is spanked by an unseen entity, awakening a force she cannot control.

Surprise!
A working class mum discovers a terrifying secret at the surprise party from hell!

The Devil's Lair
A Police Firearms Unit enter an abandoned bunker in search of a wanted extremist leader, only to find something more sinister waiting for them deep within the claustrophobic tunnels.

The Night Within
A social worker's obsession with a case plunges him into a fight for survival against malevolent forces.

The Woman in the Bed
An elderly woman awakes to discover she is unable to speak or move. Trapped in her bed, she soon realises that she is not alone.

Vowels
Ava needs to record a self-tape but her speech impediment keeps getting in the way.

Weeds
A seemingly ordinary gardening job turns into an epic show down when a gardener battles monstrous weeds in a lady's backyard, fighting them with flair and over-the-top bravado. While the lady peacefully sips juice on the porch, unaware of the chaos, the gardener wages a cinematic war against the weed monsters who threaten the existence of our world.

Two young strangers from Hong Kong find their lives intertwined as they seek asylum in Britain.

Followed by an in-person Q&A with director, Don Ng

This insightful documentary follows two friends whose lives have been shaped by Indian Sign Language (ISL) in markedly different ways: a Deaf woman raised in a hearing family, and her hearing friend who grew up as a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA). Through intimate conversations and reflections from Deaf and queer communities, the film explores how visual language can reshape our understanding of autonomy, care, identity, and belonging. Interwoven with evocative animation by artist Pakhi Sen, it challenges conventional notions of deafness, communication, and listening. In a landmark first for Indian cinema, the film also features an original ISL poem by a Deaf poet.

The London Indian Film Festival shines an important spotlight on British Asian history through a series of short documentaries looking at British Asian punk music, miscarriage of justice, Identity, Racism, and stereotypes of the ubiquitous Cornershop, featuring Aki Nawaz and Satpal Ram.

Shop Dada - The Cornershop That Built Us

Filmmaker Darshan Gajjar retraces the journey of his grandfather, Pravin Mistry, who fled Uganda and rebuilt his life running corner shops in Britain. Revisiting his grandfather’s home videos, Darshan returns to the first shop decades later, uncovering the sacrifice and resilience hidden behind a familiar South Asian stereotype.

Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he's devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.

We are excited to announce the 666 Film Challenge Screening! This special event will feature a selection of films from the challenge in which filmmakers had 66 hours and 6 minutes to write, produce, edit and deliver a short horror film. Join us in celebrating creativity and talent in independent British horror. Alongside the screening, we'll be announcing the winners of each award category. 

A full-day cinematic event celebrating the legacy of Bruce Lee.
The programme opens with the documentary LONGSTREET - A PHILOSOPHY IN MOTION, exploring Bruce Lee's involvement in the landmark series, followed by a screening of the original episode "THE WAY OF THE INTERCEPTING FIST."
This is followed by the premiere screening of the feature documentary BRUCE LEE: THE MAKING OF THE BIG BOSS.
The event concludes with a special presentation of THE BIG BOSS, screened from a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) of the original Mandarin version.
All screenings take place on a giant cinema screen for the ultimate big-screen experience, in a retro cinema setting inspired by the classic movie-going experience of the 1970s.
