This special LMFF event marks ten years of migrant cinema by looking not only at what has been represented, but at what can now be imagined. Opening with a short reflection on how migrant cinema has shifted over the last decade, the programme brings together four films that move beyond crisis narratives into speculative, dream-like and ancestral registers. Through fantasy, parable, transcendence and ritual, these works imagine other ways of being, belonging and moving through the world. A maxed-out mix of 1980s supernatural horror and slasher excess, Michael Dugan’s MAUSOLEUM is a stylish, sleazy, and outrageously gory production, featuring a series of imaginative creature designs and death scenes orchestrated by FX wizard John Carl Buechler, a BAR TRASH favourite from GHOULIES (1984), TERRORVISION (1986), ZONE TROOPERS (1985), and DOLLS (1986).

In the VHS-burning mayhem of the ‘Video Nasties’ moral panic, this "schlocky and silly” (Blockbuster Video Guide) but thoroughly entertaining horror yarn was seized and confiscated in the UK under Section 3 of the Obscene Publications Act 1959. We are showing the fully uncut 97 minute version which still had a ‘misleading category symbol’ removed by the BBFC in 2023, but that doesn’t affect the horrors that can be found lurking in the MAUSOLEUM!

The Knot Collective is a newly established film club dedicated to showcasing independent works that centre the narratives of East and Southeast Asian women and non-binary individuals, using cinema as an act of collective reflection and cross-cultural dialogue that weaves stories into the fabric of diasporic identity and shared cultural memory.

Directed by Paul Raschid, one of the leading voices in interactive filmmaking, The Run breaks new ground in horror storytelling. The film stars Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones, Strike Back) and George Blagden (Vikings, Versailles) with cameos from Dario Argento (the master director of horror films) and Franco Nero (the Italian screen legend) in a high-stakes, immersive experience where the audience plays a pivotal role in determining the protagonist’s fate.

The Run is set on a remote running trail in the stunning Lake Garda region of Northern Italy, where a famous fitness influencer’s morning run becomes a race for survival when she is hunted by seemingly motiveless killers. The audience must choose her next move by majority vote using glowsticks. Each decision shaping the story’s outcome in real time.

The Run is thrilling film festival audiences at Raindance London, Motelx Lisbon, Dinard Brittany and Imagine Amsterdam before taking up residence at the Genesis which is in Jack the Ripper’s backyard of Whitechapel!!

This is the third collaboration between Paul Raschid and Genesis Cinema after The Gallery in 2023 and Hello Stranger in April 2025.

After accidentally killing the love of his life Elizabeth Shelley (Patty Mullen), Jeffrey Franken (James Lorinz) decides to reanimate her with the help of a drug named Supercrack and the body parts of a dozen Manhattan sex workers. FRANKENHOOKER is a bad taste triumph that revels in sublime camp, gloopy gore, and neon-soaked dreamscapes with Patty Mullen iconic as the title character (“Wanna date?”).

We are stupidly proud to be joined for this special screening by special effects makeup artist Dan Frye who worked on the original production. Sam, a young film student, discovers a USB detailing the life and career of forgotten Italian horror director Saturnino Barresi. As she begins to investigate his mysterious disappearance, Sam finds herself pulled into a violent conspiracy eerily similar to those of the films she adores.

Our ‘end-of-season’ films are always meant to be a lot of stupid fun, and no film nails that brief more than the awkward cross-species coupling of HOWARD THE DUCK (1986). From executive producer George Lucas (STAR WARS), and the pages of Marvel comics, HOWARD THE DUCK (released somewhat bashfully in the UK as ‘Howard… A New Breed Of Hero’) is a comedy adventure spectacular about a fast-talking, cigar-chomping, beer-loving duck from a parallel universe who crashes to Earth and somehow winds up in Cleveland.

It’s hard to imagine it now, but HOWARD THE DUCK was the first official big-screen adaptation of a Marvel comic book since the CAPTAIN AMERICA film serials of the 1940s.
