Bar Trash: THE ALIEN FACTOR (1978)

“A GALACTIC FRIGHTMARE.” A spaceship containing specimens for an intergalactic zoo crashes near a small town. The alien creatures escape, and mayhem ensues… Don Dohler’s loving homage to classic 1950s creature features, THE ALIEN FACTOR, was filmed in Baltimore by a collection of hardcore sci-fi fans and filmmaking novices…. Full of elaborate costumes, stop-motion creatures, and spaceship miniatures, THE ALIEN FACTOR screens like a cosplay version of THE PREDATOR (2018), but has oodles of homemade charm that film lacks. Bar Trash audiences first fell in love with THE ALIEN FACTOR’s wish-fulfilment aesthetic when it screened way back in Season 1. Token Homo is delighted to bring one his favourite films back by popular demand, proving that John Waters isn’t the only cult film director to come out of Baltimore. “The long-legged ‘Zagatile’ has a special place in my heart, staggering around like a mutant giraffe, or one of Leigh Bowery’s more insane creations.” Stephen Thrower (Nightmare USA). Polite notice: We are showing THE ALIEN FACTOR without subtitles from the best available digital source. /// BAR TRASH is a celebration of cult and curious cinema, hosted by queer film fanatic, Token Homo. Films are served with themed drinks, introductions, intermissions, prize giveaways, and subtitles/captions where possible. Tickets from £3. Adults 18+ only.
